Muscle pain

It's been awhile since I did my usual exercice and yesterday, I finally visited and enrolled in the local gym near our new house. I'm a bit disappointed on their treadmill but the ambiance in the gym is okay. I think I'll get a new program for my work-out and use the stationary bicycle for my cardo. Now I'm feeling the muscle pain and in a few days, joint pain relief should come. It's time to stay fit again.

Eyebugs

In my line of work, sleep sometimes is a luxury because I work on graveyard shifts and sometimes I sleep only 1 or 2 hours only especially if I needed to ran errands in the house. I've been doing this for so many years already that I got used to it. But I can't deny the dark circles that I have around my eyes. Eyebugs. So I keep in mind to sleep more. I read it somewhere that it's good for you.

Treatments

My sister's been loyal to her dermatologist because she stills undergo acne treatments until now. I wish I have the time and the money like her. But I have my medicines and I still use them for maintenance. Only the sudden break outs are a bit frustrating but other than that, I'm still happy with the acne treatment with my doctor.

Massage at home

I want massage tables at home. Evern since I saw that massage table at my sister's house, I can't get over it. I've tried it and it's really effective. I felt relaxed and my back ache seemed to go away. Hmmm.. maybe I'll come and visit my sister more often? hehe or visit their automatic message table.

Rainy season wear

It's rainy season again. And even though I don't like the rain, there's only one advantage I'm looking forward to--I can wear my favorite sweater and boots again. Rainy season attire is like being in Hong Kong all over again, without the rain of course. I just love the climate there. Not too cold, not too rainy. Just perfect for skirts, coats and boots. Love it.

Business minded

Being an corporate slave isn't bad at all especially if the career ladder in your work place fast. But some would still prefer putting up their own business. I'm truely impressed to those who took the risk and followed their passion. I wish I knew where to start and just manage my own business. Food stall in the mall? or maybe start on business card printing...

new home

We are finally here in our apartment. This is our fourth day and everything looks okay as far as I can tell. We still need a little more tweaking here and there but the important thing is that the little kiddo likes it here. We also plan to put up a mini-office area in the far end of the living and for that we need office furniture. But I think that'll wait for a few more weeks becauase we need to purchase first a dining table.

Hydroxycut or Gym?

We already moved to our new apartment and everybody seemed to like the place. It's kinda hot during the day but I really love the privacy on the third floor and the interior is not that bad. How I wish I have my own treadmill because I'm gaining weight again. My friend told me that there's this gym near our place but I haven't seen it yet. I'm thinking of taking fat burner pills but I'm not sure about
side effects of hydroxycut. I think I need to research more on that.

WORD of the day

eustress/U-strĕss/; noun
: Positive stress

Did you know?

The term eustress was first used by endocrinologist Hans Selye in 1975, when he published a model dividing stress into two major categories. In his 1975 article, Selye propounded that if stress felt by an individual actually enhances that individual’s function, be it physical or mental, it may be considered eustress.

The name given to the opposite form of this stress is much more familiar to us all. It’s called, of course, distress.

Some things that may make us feel eustress are:
§ Getting a promotion
§ Buying a new car
§ Falling in love
§ Riding a roller-coaster

…in other words, whatever gives you an uplifting, feel-good thrill. It isn’t all bad, friends and neighbors, although sometimes it is expensive. At least two of the above bullets will bankrupt you in one way or another. Still, feeling good for a little while is better than feeling bad all of the time. Thank you, eustress, for giving us all a reason to get out of bed and face another day.

My job requires shifting schedule and this time, I'm on night shift. It's get very irritated everytime when I wake up because of the heat. Sleeping is one of the important things we need. Breakouts

It's that time of the month again that I get breakouts and I hate it. Breakouts only comes once a month, usually before my period. I'm sure I'm not the only ones who has this problem. I wish they have some kind of acne pills that I can take to reduce breakouts so I would go through the trouble of pricking and applying all kinds of peeling formula on my face at the dermatologist.

Loans

Hubby and I talked last night and we had decided to get a loan. Our big move is in progress and one of our worst fears was we might lack funds. As much as possible, I don't want to think about it but we are just thinking -- just in case. I searched for other ways how to get funds and I found out about asset based lending. I hope this will help us out.

Word FaQ

Is it “on behalf of” or “in behalf of”?

Don’t give yourself too big of a Paracetemol headache over this one. The two are generally interchangeable. However, in behalf of all you technical people out there (note the usage), here are the official instructions for untangling these two little hairballs:

Use “in behalf” when you mean “for the benefit of”, the way I did earlier.
There was a fund raiser held in behalf of the many homeless children in the Philippines.

Use “on behalf” when you mean “as an agent of” or “on the part of”.
Terry accepted the award on behalf of her friend, who could not make it to the ceremony.

My sister M approached me last weekend. She asked me weather she'll continue her adult acne treatments. We had this problem ever since high school and even I continue to have breakouts every now and then. She's not decided weather she'll continue with the treatment or just go to an ordinary facial care. Well, it's really up to her. I told her, if she really have the time and the money, why not.

In two months time

My sister told me that the building they've been busy with has finally met the completion date. So in two months times, we'll be able to see and experience their hard worked labor. I can't wait. From my mom's stories, they put up a nice interior on the place and not to mention the nice garden in front. I wonder if they included a pond to go with the garden. If they did, I think they'd be needing uv pond filter for that. Anyway, let's see in two months. Goodluck sis.

WORD of the day

“Thrifty” as opposed to “spendthrift”…

This one causes a lot of confusion for those learning the English language, and with good reason. Let’s look at the definitions for both:

Thrifty: practicing economical management; careful in the use of resources.
Spendthrift: A person who spends possessions or money wastefully.

If that gets hard to remember, try looking at it this way: A thrifty person is someone who is smart and saves, a spendthrift is someone who spends away what he or she has worked so hard to save—i.e. spend+thrift.

Word FaQ

What is the difference between i.e. and e.g.?

I.e. means 'that is' (to say). E.g. means 'for example'.
I.e. is an abbreviation for Latin id est, 'that is'. E.g. stands for exempli gratia, 'for the sake of example'.

So you can say, "I like citrus fruits, e.g., oranges and lemons" (for example, oranges and lemons).

…Or you can use it to mean "I like citrus fruits, i.e. the juicy, edible fruits with leathery, aromatic rinds of any of numerous tropical, usually thorny shrubs or trees of the genus Citrus," (that is to say, the juicy, edible fruits...).

In the first sentence you are naming two kinds of citrus fruit; in the second you are giving an explanation. E.g. indicates an example; i.e. specifies and explains.

New challenge

I recently applied to another department in our office. I guess I'm starting to grow tired of my work and the urge for another challenge is on. I admit I don't have certification (yet) but I do have the knowledge and background. Oh I hope I get in.

I asked my sister where she bought the milk and oatmeal body scrub I saw at my parent's house because I like it. I tried it once when I was there and it made skin soft after bath. I think It'll help the chicken skin to go away with regular use. Just like mom, I like moisturizers. And with my mom's age, she uses anti wrinkle cream and my sister abroad never fails to provide for her. I believe moisturizers are important for our skin so don't forget to put one on.

The Death Of John Lennon

At approximately 11PM on December 8th, 1980, famed rock musician John Lennon was walking through the gateway of his living quarters in New York City after spending several hours with his wife, Yoko Ono, mixing a new track entitled: Walking On Thin Ice. As Lennon approached the gate, a gunman stepped out of the shadows nearby and fired five hollow-point bullets at him from a Charter Arms .38 Special revolver. Four of the shots hit Lennon, inflicting severe wounds. Minutes later Lennon was pronounced dead on arrival in the emergency room at Roosevelt Hospital.

The response in America was tremendous. Shortly after networks reported the news, crowds gathered outside of The Dakota, where Lennon lived, and the Roosevelt Hospital, singing Lennon’s songs and burning candles. It got so that wife Yoko Ono had to request that the crowd disperse, as their chanting was keeping her awake. They gathered again in Central Park on the following Sunday for ten minutes of silent prayer; indeed, millions of people around the world responded to Ono’s request for this prayer.

The shooter was Mark David Chapman. Mere hours before the murder, Lennon had autographed a copy of his album Double Fantasy for him, saying afterward: “Is this all you want?” Chapman had only nodded silently. A photograph of the signing was captured by Lennon fan Paul Goresh, and shows Chapman in the background.

To this day, Lennon is mourned throughout the world. In New York City’s Central Park, there is a 2.5 acre landscaped section that goes by the name of Strawberry Fields, dedicated to the memory of the dead musician. It is often covered with flowers, candles in glasses, and other belongings left behind by Lennon fans. Candlelight vigils are often held here not only in memoriam of John Lennon, but other famous musicians, as well as those who were killed in the September 11 attacks on America in 2001.

WORD of the day

albeit/awl-BEE-it/; conjunction
: conceding the fact that : even though : although

Example sentence: Frank does not close many tickets, albeit he pursues them with a gusto many of his teammates seem to lack.

Usage of this word was quite common until around 1900. At that time, it kind of fell off the radar for awhile, only to reemerge after 1930 and achieve a strong comeback. Use it today when talking to an American and he or she won’t think you an oddball, honest. Just try not to say anything crazy like: Hey, I’m going to close this ticket, sir, albeit your system is still down!

Example Sentence: The network’s failures seemed completely arbitrary, going up and down at odd times all day long.

The Latin word "arbiter" means "judge," and the English adopted it, via Anglo-French, with the meaning "one who judges a dispute"; it can now also be used for anyone whose judgment is respected.

"Arbitrary" traces back to the Latin adjective "arbitrarius" ("done by way of legal arbitration"), which itself comes from "arbiter." Today, it can also be used for anything determined by or as if by a personal choice or whim.

I never thought I would be checking on life insurance quotes online until I had a family of my own. All I can think of was how to get my family safe and protected. Especially now that the little kiddo is not so little anymore. She's now 4 years old and already attending school on junior nursery level. She's quite taller for her age and never fails to ask a million questions everyday. Like every family in the world, all they want is the best for their loved ones.

WORD of the day

red herring/RED- HAR-ing/; noun
: Something used to draw attention away from the real issue

Example Sentence: Many of the citizens in Cleveland opined that the mayor’s speeches about the new basketball arena were in fact red herrings, put in place to deflect attention away from that city’s poverty problem and high crime rate.

Did you know?
A herring is a soft-finned bony fish. People who like to eat herring have long preserved them by salting and slowly smoking them. That process makes a herring turn red or dark brown -- and gives them a very strong smell.

Dogs love to sniff such smelly treats, a fact that makes the fish a perfect diversion for anyone trying to distract hunting dogs from the trail of their prey. The practice of using preserved fish to confuse hunting dogs led to the use of the term "red herring" for anything that diverts attention from the issue at hand.

Kiddie party

We're going to attend a kiddie party by the end of this month and I'm thinking on what to give already. I know for sure they already have Bob revolution stroller for the kid, so I was suggesting the hubby to get a toy car instead. Because as to what I heard, the birthday celebrant really likes cars. We might get the whole set this weekend. Can't wait for the party.

Natural diet

My friends noticed that my dad lost weight. Well, it's noticeable because his tummy went away and he looked slimmer now compared from before. His doctor advised him to take weight loss supplements, like xenical to get rid of all those fats in the tummy. All in all, he lost 25 lbs. I love to take xenical but I just don't have the budget for that, so doing the natural way to loose weight. Jogging and exercise.

help online

Internet has been a great help for everyone especially me. I used it for my research during my thesis days in college. Me and my thesis partner would get ideas online and since it's an engineering based idea, we depend mostly on web directory. It greatly help me because I was not very familiar with the terms before, and I finished the book easily because of it. Life is so much easier with Internet available.

WORD of the day

nominal\NOM-in-ahl\; adjective

: (engineering) Functioning as intended

Example Sentences: It took over an hour on the phone to troubleshoot the system, but by the end of the call the customer’s network was nominal.

At launch time in 1986, all was not nominal for the space shuttle Challenger; extreme cold weather from the night before had done damage to one of its vital parts.

There are in fact many different ways to use this word, but for call center agents, the definition given above is by far the most appropriate. And incidentally, for those of you who remember the Challenger disaster, it could have easily been avoided. Several engineers warned NASA managers about the potentially catastrophic results of launching the craft on a cold morning. These warnings went unheeded. Today, the culture at NASA is somewhat different. A launch for one of their shuttles is absolutely out of the question unless all systems are operating nominally.

Diet aids

I hate it when I have my period, because it triggers my appetite. And not just appetite for eating more, but I feel cravings for junk foods. I usually control my cravings but eating less but sometimes, I can't help it. I snug a piece or two at the grocery store and eat it immediately. What I hate about it is the guilty feeling after. I can't I need diet aids at times like these.

I know that feeling also. I remembered I tried the diet pill that works for a month. I almost gave up there, but I never did get those frustration get over me. So here I am still loosing weight in the process.

Scars

There are a lot of acne remedies in the market that promises fair and flawless skin. I for one, dream of getting the best treatment. The most effective cream to remove acne scars is the one I have now. I got it from my last visit to the dermatologist. At first I thought it's not doing anything on my skin up until I noticed scars are beginning to get lighter. I hope this will help erase those acne scars.

Gadget talk

The hubby is telling me about this cellphone that he's interested in. He really wanted the cellphone with a built-in express music. I know it's the old model but I'm sure the price is not that expensive now. I'm thinking of getting the cell phone booster because there comes a time that we cannot get a good signal from a certain location. But I'm okay with my cellphone now. What I want now is a brand new iTouch.

New TV

My dad bought a big sony lcd tv with a home threatre last month. We loved to watch tv in their bedroom because of the cool sound. So I gave him tons of movies to kept him occupied during the weekends. And now that he has cool home threatre, he gave us old tv. We plan to get some tv stands because the old one is kinda small. I can tell it'll look nice in our living room.

Pure water

Ever since the typhoon hit us, we became more cautious on what we eat and drink. The hubby started to purchase mineral water because we cannot risk the health of our little kiddo. Prevention is always the best than cure. That's why I suggested that we also get the water softener purifier so we can have purified water without purchasing outside. The hubby might consider this and I'm happy about it.

Flash drive

Getting the flash drive is one of the best things I did these past few months. It's very very useful especially for me who needs to transfer files a lot. Everybody knows we loved taking pictures and transferring those files is sometimes a headache. Me and my friend also use it to share music and movies. Not to mention the TV series that we always watch. I might but another flash drive, with a bigger memory this time.

But of course, I need to be aware of what's going on, like the economic crisis, weather and many more. We'll never know what's in store for us in the future, so it's always better to safe than sorry. That's why we are planning to get at least, cheap insurance. Now that the little kiddo is growing up fast, it'll be very useful for us to get insurance.

Treat acne

The most effective way to treat acne is by going to the dermatologist. I've learned that through experience when I did not had any other choice. There came a time when I was so depress and frustration about my acne problem. The doctor helped me treat acne and gain back my confidence. I just wish I went there sooner.

Acne cure

I've spend almost my entire life searching for that perfect acne cure. I remembered, I tried almost all the promising acne regimen available in the market but sadly, none of them worked for me. Recently, I've learned from an accutane reviews that this actually works. They use a powerful ingredient to eliminate acne. I hope this is the one I'm looking for because obviously, I don't want to undergo another trial and error type of thing.

Natural fat burner

A lot of people I know wants to slim down in time for summer. Some prefer the fast and effortless way to trim the fat. Of course, who doesn't want that right? But of course, if you have the time and money, you could. But it's always the best to do it the natural way. Diet and exercise is the most natural fat burner and not to mention, healthy too. I prefer the diet and exercise plan because it's a winner if you see results from your hard work.

Diet plan scheme

I've come up with a diet plan scheme because summer is fast approaching and I need to slim down fast. I bought a high fiber all wheat cereal to replace my rice meal. So that means, I'm down to one meal rice a day. It helps because it prevents the big tummy from getting more bigger. I read somewhere that it'll still boils down to what I eat so I'm eating healthy and less now. I also exercise once and if I have time, I do it twice a day. Because taking a bath in the afternoon and another before I go to sleep. I am also considering taking diet supplements because it also helps. Join me in preparing for summer.

Now is the time

2010 is a big year for us. We have plans on traveling local and abroad this year and we are looking forward to it. I know we need funds but I think we can produce them if we really believe we can do it. I don't want to sit down here and dream. It's time to take action and now is the time for that. So I advised the hubby to slim down so we won't have any problems getting medical in the future. I told him to check cholesterol treatment and use his medicard while the treatment is free. Now is the time, ours is the power.

Slimming down

Holidays are over and for some of us, flabs are big again but not for me. I had my share of gluttony moments last holiday but I was still watching what I eat. And I did my sit ups when the year started so hopefully I can do it for the rest of the year. Tomorrow's gonna me rest day so I'll move the furnitures here so I can access again our fitness equipment. I know I need to run on the treadmill again so I can slim down faster. It's time to slim down and enjoy the summer.
