Bypass/BI-pass

1. (noun) A passage to one side; a channel carrying a fluid around a part and then back to the main stream
2. (verb) To avoid by means of a bypass

Example Sentences: The bus driver, stuck in traffic, attempted to use the bypass ramp; however, that too was jammed with cars.

“A lot of our networking difficulties can by bypassed by adding a switch to the system,” the agent said. “That will enable us to dial into all three routers with just one line.”
